Director of Cooperative Services, Willy Street Co-op
Kirsten has managed the charitable, philanthropic, educational, and ownership/cooperative development services at Willy Street Co-op since 2013. Highlights of her tenure include managing outreach efforts during the 2014 remodel of the Co-op’s East location and the 2016 opening of the Co-op’s North location; providing mentorship for Allied Community Cooperative’s Healthy Corner Store Project; working with Second Harvest of Southern Wisconsin to implement FoodShare education and registration in-store; collaborating with the City of Madison to pilot retail nutrition incentive programming and participate in their Healthy Retail Access Program; providing education, training and information to cooperators throughout the US and internationally; and working with our owners to put over $1M back into the community through donations, grants, and fundraising. Previous experience includes food service, production management, administration, fundraising, grant writing, volunteer coordination, and executive services for nonprofit boards. She has also previously served on the board of directors for the Four Lakes Traditional Music Collective, Envirothon North America, and also for Nature’s Bakery Cooperative, a well established worker-owned collective. A Wisconsin native, Kirsten grew up in the greater Milwaukee area and currently enjoys making her home in Madison where
she enjoys music, meditation, exploring the outdoors, and sharing food with her partner, friends and family.
