Principal, Thought For Food Consulting
Allen Seidner is principal of Thought For Food Consulting, a prepared foods design, development and operations consulting firm exclusive to organic and natural grocery retailers. Seidner, is joined by an associate consultant, Michelle O’Connor, and a strategic team of equipment and design partners.
Seidner specializes in the design, development and implementation of prepared foods operations — creating program, financial and fixture plans for more than 150 expansion, renovation and new store projects for cooperative and independent grocery retailers. His design and subsequent expansion of the prepared foods operation at Briar Patch Co-op (Grass Valley, Calif.) was recently noted in their being honored as the 2018 Cooperative Retailer of the Year Award.
Seidner is a former partner at Good Earth Natural Foods in Fairfax, Calif.; a Northern California regional foodservice director for Wild Oats Markets; a prepared foods team leader and traveling troubleshooter for Whole Foods Markets; a prepared foods and human resources manager for Oak Street Market (Evanston, Ill.), and a long-time manager of Chicago’s renowned vegetarian restaurant, Blind Faith Café.
Seidner annually produces and presents DeliOps 101 Seminar, a 3-day intensive on the essential aspects of foodservice operations excellence. And, with partners, Carolee Colter and Mark Mulcahy, he’s a co-creator and -presenter of Rising Stars, a pair of 3-day leadership development seminars that the trio’s presented to more than 2500 industry leaders over the past 20 years.
A San Francisco-transplanted native of Chicago, Seidner has traveled all over the U.S. and Canada as a full-time design, development and operations consultant since 1997.
